Bank history


1996: The history of the Ipoteka bank goes back to 1996, when "Tashkent Housing Savings Bank" (“Toshkent uy-joy jamgʼarma banki”) was established in order to improve housing conditions.

1997: The Housing Savings Bank of Uzbekistan was established in order to popularize the experience of housing fund financing throughout the country.

2005: Housing Savings Bank of Uzbekistan was merged with "Zamin-bank" and was established as the first specialized mortgage lending bank in Uzbekistan JSC "Ipoteka-bank".

2007: Ipoteka-bank received license No. 74 of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan to carry out banking and foreign exchange activities as a joint-stock commercial bank in Uzbekistan.

Ipoteka-bank became the first bank to receive a "Stable" B1 rating from Moody's rating agency.

2017-2018: an agreement on the institutional transformation of the bank was signed between the Ipoteka Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Bank began a large-scale transformation with the experts of the IFC.

2019: The International Finance Corporation granted Ipoteka-bank a credit line equivalent to 35 million US dollars, which can be exchanged for the bank's shares.

2020: International bonds in the amount of 300 million US dollars were issued by Ipoteka-bank at the London Stock Exchange.

2021: The Ipoteka bank introduced a new development strategy, corporate management system with a new organizational structure, business model, underwriting and risk management system, and various remote services.

Ipoteka-bank issued Eurobonds in the amount of 785 billion soums (equivalent to 75 million US dollars) in national currency on the International Vienna Stock Exchange.

In September 2021, OTP Bank Group (Hungary) signed a memorandum with the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the purchase of the majority shares of "Ipoteka-bank".

2022: On December 12, 2022, a press conference was held at the "Hilton Tashkent City" hotel, dedicated to the signing of an agreement by the Hungarian OTP bank on the purchase of the joint-stock commercial mortgage bank "Ipoteka-bank" of Uzbekistan.

2023: On June 13, 2023, the first stage of the purchase of the bank was completed, OTP Bank bought 73.71% of the shares of Ipoteka-bank belonging to the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the remaining 25% will be purchased within 3 years. From this date, Ipoteka Bank officially became a member of OTP Group.
